Research

Our group studies the role of humans and nature in shaping the global environment. We build and use computer models of the atmosphere and oceans to simulate the spread of pollution and greenhouse gases, then use observations to evaluate and improve those models. These observations include satellite, ground, and aircraft measurements with collaborators worldwide.

Dr. Holmes develops the GEOS-Chem atmospheric chemistry and transport model and is a member of the GEOS-Chem Steering Committee and co-Chair of the Mercury-POPs Working Group.
